Here is my vision for putting residents first and guiding Oshawa's growth.

Managing Smart Growth and Infrastructure

As Ward 1 continues to be the primary hub for Oshawa's northern expansion, infrastructure must keep pace with growth to support residents and maintain quality of life.

Accelerating Infrastructure Timelines
Advocating for the timely construction of roads, water services, sidewalks, and other essential infrastructure so they keep pace with new housing developments.
Expanding Public Transit
Supporting enhanced Durham Region Transit (DRT) routes and service frequencies to better connect northern communities with South Oshawa, Ontario Tech University, Durham College, and the GO Transit network.
Commercial and Retail Development
Encouraging the strategic development of local retail, grocery, and service hubs so residents can access everyday necessities closer to home.

Traffic Safety and Road Management

Rapid growth has increased traffic volumes on both suburban streets and rural roads, requiring proactive planning and investment.

Subdivision Speeding and Traffic Calming
Supporting traffic-calming measures such as speed humps, community safety zones, and other initiatives to improve safety in family-oriented neighbourhoods.
Arterial Road Upgrades
Working with the City of Oshawa and the Region of Durham to address congestion and improve safety along key corridors such as Simcoe Street North, Ritson Road North, and major intersections near Highway 407.
Rural Road Maintenance
Ensuring rural roads receive proper winter maintenance, pothole repairs, and safety improvements, including adequate lighting and guardrails where needed.

Fiscal Responsibility and Transparent Governance

Residents expect responsible spending, value for their tax dollars, and a government that listens and communicates.

Mitigating Property Tax Hikes
Committing to line-by-line budget reviews to ensure that new property tax revenues generated by growth are reinvested efficiently into core municipal services.
Transparent Decision-Making
Supporting accountable and responsible governance that puts residents' needs first.
Active Ward Communication
Providing regular town halls, newsletters, and digital updates to keep residents informed and engaged in local decision-making.

Parks, Recreation, and Community Services

As Ward 1 grows, residents need access to high-quality parks, recreational facilities, and community spaces.

Parkland and Trail Development
Ensuring developers fulfill their commitments by delivering promised parks, playgrounds, green spaces, and connected multi-use trail networks.
Community and Recreation Facilities
Championing the planning and expansion of community spaces in North Oshawa so families have access to pools, arenas, programs, and recreational opportunities closer to home.
Honouring Local Heritage
Ensuring growth respects and reflects the history, character, and values that make our community unique.

Safer Communities and Crime Prevention

Residents deserve to feel safe in their neighbourhoods, parks, trails, and public spaces.

Suport Durham Regional Police
I will advocate for strong support for Durham Regional Police and first responders, ensuring they have the resources they need to protect our community and keep Oshawa safe
Neighbourhood Safety First
Advocating for improved lighting, enhanced visibility in parks and trails, and stronger collaboration between residents, community groups, and law enforcement to address local safety concerns.
Investing in Youth
Supporting accessible after-school programs, recreation opportunities, sports, arts, and mentorship initiatives that help young people build skills, form positive connections, and stay engaged in the community.
Preventing Crime Before It Starts
Promoting community-based programs and partnerships that address the root causes of crime through youth engagement, education, and community support.

Housing Choice and Complete Communities

Ward 1 residents deserve housing options that meet the needs of families, seniors, first-time homebuyers, and working residents while supporting complete and connected neighbourhoods.

Standing firm on smart urban boundaries to protect prime agricultural land and support the long-term viability of farming in North Oshawa.
Supporting Farm Diversification
Advocating for policies that help farmers expand through agriculture-related and on-farm diversified uses, including agri-tourism, value-added agricultural businesses, and other innovative opportunities that strengthen the rural economy while preserving farmland.
Reducing Barriers for Rural Businesses
Supporting streamlined planning processes and practical tools that help farmers and agricultural entrepreneurs start or grow businesses, creating jobs and economic opportunities in rural communities.
Rural Broadband Expansion
Continuing to advocate for reliable, high-speed internet access for rural households and agricultural businesses that remain underserved.
